Pokémon Red‘s remake was Pokémon FireRed & Pokémon Green‘s remake was Pokémon LeafGreen. So what would Pokémon Gold and Silver‘s remakes be called? Mo’ money, mo’ money, mo’ money!

So is it true[1]? Is Nintendo planning on remaking Pokémon Silver and Gold? Probably, yes. And if Nintendo hadn’t already planned to do as such they are now. The PR train has started and they’re not ones to derail it. Nintendo definitely knows how to make money. And they definitely know that Pokémon games make money. You can call it beating a dead horse all that you want. But they’re beating a dead horse that still shits bricks of gold.

Update: Nintendo did announce that Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver are being remade and that the games will be called Pokémon Heart Gold and Pokémon Soul Silver [source]

Don’t forget that this is the last day to order a Cloud Lied, Aerith Died (shirt) and save $2 off of the regular price. After today, it’s too late for the discount.

Aren’t even the non-remake versions of Pokémön¿ pretty much the same game, anyway? No one’s getting gypped here – these kids know what they are going to get, and that’s what they want…

To be fair, if Nintendo does it right, A Gold/Silver remake would be most excellent, since those games were easily the cream of the entire crop. Unfortunately, they’ll likely employ the battling system from DPPt, and with FR/LG being the borefest that they were, I can only imagine a complete ruining of what made GS so great :(

I guess I’ll save money and just continue playing the original games on occasion, waxing nostalgic. *sigh*

Would have worked better with Red/Fire Red.

@The Borzoi It was too similar. I had that originally planned, but went with Blue and LeafGreen.

Now gold and silver were probably the best of the Pokemon games, but know why?
They were good games with little wrong, obviously.
They remade red and green so you could run, cut without pausing, better graphics, etc..
But gold and silver can’t really be improved upon. What could the remake include?

The GS series Pokemon are few and far between. To get them you have to play crappy sub games, like Pokemon Colosseum, and even then I’m not sure you can really get them all.

Not being allowed to trade between Gameboy and GBA was a way of holding back the duplication methods that both games had, like Missingno, and prevent access to the now countless Mews and Celebii’s.

Fact is, they NEED to remake them in order to get the Pokemon into the mix. I’ll definitely be buying them.

I have heard (though I haven’t verified) that the reason FireRed and LeafGreen were made was to get the second gen pokemon back into the mix. With the addition of the Sevii Islands, the second gen was opened up. Once you get them in FireRed/LeafGreen, then you can transfer.

That also makes a point about what can be changed; the game designers can add side quests, add third and fourth gen pokemon, and revamp the looks.

With that said, I skipped the G/S generation, so I’ll be picking one of the copies up when it comes out.
