  • You forgot “Evangelion” in the description.
    Great list nevertheless!

  • randomgamerdude

They’re forgetting the scenes that sparkle so much that if it was real anyone looking in the general direction would be blinded. Like in Dragonball Z Kai where he catches the monkey.

  • Ryu

“One way to look at it is cliche, but the way I see it, this is like the badass opening of the anime ‘Monomyth’. It’s not surprising they use a lot of similar elements, I mean, they’re eye-catching, they’re symbolic, and people love homage. So when one person does it, a hundred people pay tribute and suddenly it’s a cliche.”

    • I would say that some of it is symbolic and related to the monomyth, but so much more of it is purely re-hashed aesthetic. Cast shots, the shaky cam, the robot coming toward the camera so kids have a better idea of what toy to buy… Let’s be realistic.

  • WorMzy

I can honestly say that I recognised ten of the clips. But despite that, I can still say that someone had far, far too much time on their hands.

  • Serneum

Ah Fate/Stay Night and Wolf’s Rain…two of the best anime shows I’ve ever seen

  • Nuckel

Wow, actually I am surprised this hasn’t been done before. It’s about Uber-time…

  • It isn’t sad that I’ve seen almost all of the series listed, I hope?

  • Falos

“Hurr, all actions movies have guns and explosions.”

Some stuff is appropriate and practical at a fundamental level. That said, I can’t say the argument applies fully, some of it is being abused and even when stuff “should” or is “supposed” be used, it might be a lame kind of necessity that we grudgingly accept and endure. Or maybe I just tolerate it because I watch too much of this stuff.

*gazes off wistfully at nothing in particular*

  • Nekozilla

you forgot Neon Genisis Evangelion, they used one small clip from at 2:58

  • They also had a slight clip of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

  • Metal C0Mmander

This is like that in america too but that doesn’t excuse anything. It’s something that was use to hide their limitation at the time and which was used again and again until it became a tradition that wasn’t usefull anymore but was actully harmfull. Then it kept going for others various reasons and it simply became how it’s done now.

  • Terlan

Actually, they used around 3 clips from Neon Genesis Evangelion. I did notice one of the clips was from Misato’s fingers, one with Shinji and i swear one of the other ones was with Rei’s body floating past.

Is it sad i know the Evangelion opening off by heart?

  • Klaid

Woah woah woah… Hiraku no Go got an anime? Frigging sweet!

  • Sir VG

And an Ayumi Hamasaki remix track was used for the audio. Just had to be said.

(I don’t know the track name, but her voice is very recognizable.)

    • DokuroKM

The songs name “Boys & Girls” from her CD LOVEppears.
That fact that I know this says enough from me…

Anyway, thanks. Know I have her old songs back in my playlist…

  • Anony

Good lord…I recognized (after seeing the name list, anyway) 33 of those!

  • neil

what? i didnt see one single naruto or naruto shippuden clip. awww man.
