I really need to make a new installment for the Rejected Mega Man Villians series.

As far as this comic goes, why is Steve Man considered rejected? Looks like someone made the mistake of confusing the word rejected with AWESOME!!!

Chris Gerringer has created some awesome Rejected Mario Outfits that deserve to be shared. Personally, I still think Nintendo could figure out a way to justify how each of them could legitimately be outfits, but then again that’s Nintendo for you.

Update: This comic in now appearing on the official Capcom blog [1]. That’s really awesome. You know what’s even awesomer? Letting me design an actual robot master. Call me!

While I was creating this, I realized that Recycled Man could actually make a decent villain. And in case you are wondering which robot masters he’s recycled from: Quick Man’s head (Mega Man 2), Heat Man’s turso (Mega Man 2), Drill Man’s left arm (Mega Man 4), Slash Man’s right arm (Mega Man 7), Charge Man’s right leg (Mega Man 5) and Uranus’ left leg (Mega Man V). There’s no real rhyme or reason to which parts I chose beyond variety.

Nega Man is pretty self explanatory. And then there’s Soapy Man…

Last week, my four year old daughter was looking at the Mr. Masters (poster). A couple days later she came up to me and said, “Daddy, I created a new comic for you. He’s called Soapy Man. He has soap on his head and a squiggly mouth.”

So I decided to take a picture of it with my iPhone and turn it into an actual Rejected Mega Man Villains. In fact, her showing me that is the entire reason that I created this new batch of Rejected Mega Man Villains. I also wanted to note that he’s pink because that’s her favorite color. The end.

So yeah, Wiki Man has already appeared in a previous Rejected Mega Man Villains. But without him next to Rip-off Man, the joke just doesn’t make sense. Steampunk Man is on the actual poster and Point & Click Man is a custom villain that never appeared on this site before. In fact, Point & Click Man is the first villain that was not 100% vector and was digitally colored in Photoshop rather than Illustrator. Just thought you’d like to know.

I really miss creating these. Anyone who knows me or reads Dueling Analogs knows I am a huge Mega Man fan. I’m thinking I might bring the Rejected Mega Man Villains back to life. Maybe update the poster from being 18″ x 24″ to 24″ x 36″ and load it up with 15 or 20 brand new villains, as well. What do you think?

Update: I wanted to mention that this comic was mentioned on the official Capcom blog. Very cool! Now if only we can convince Capcom to let me design an actual robot master for one of the new Mega Man incarnations. That would be so friggin’ awesome.

I want to make sure that I give credit to Travis Scovill for suggesting that I do mavericks based on some of the character names from the Metal Gear Solid series. I think I chose the best of the names that would have worked. Vulcan Raven would have either been a pointy eared bird or a lame duck [See Roman Mythology, true believers! - Stan], Gray Fox would have been a… well… gray fox, and I think using any of the other Snakes would have been little redundant.
