The Miis: Big Miiny

Back in January of 2007 I ran an extra third comic every Friday during that month. Each one of these comics was part of a series called The Miis. Looking back recently I felt the artwork was pretty simplistic and crude. The original comics were done in Adobe Illustrator. So I decided to create a new one using Adobe Illustrator (with only a few minor touch ups in Photoshop) as well to see if I could improve on the art style. I really feel that there is definitely an vast improvement in the quality of the character designs in the three plus years that have transpired since then. If you want to judge for yourself you can compare this comic with the bottom four comics located here.

Puppy Cow… You want to support this. In fact you want to own one of these adorable yet udderly terrifying plush toys created by Jamie Noguchi. But there’s a catch. Jamie is running a Kickstarter campaign to get the funding for this toy and there is only six days left ’til it’s over. So let’s head on over there and make the Puppy Cow plushies a reality. Birth of a Sackboy

Sackboys and sackgirls are creepy. There, I said it. Now some of you might be saying that they are cute. You are entitled to your own opinion. Your opinion is wrong, but you are entitled to it. You see, saying that sackboy is cute character is like saying that a chihuahua is a cute dog. And no one would say that because they’re not cute… and they’re not dogs either, they’re rats. Annoying little yappy rats.

Nonetheless, kudos to Media Molecule and Sony on the originality of and overall enjoyment with Little Big Planet. Even with their creepy little sackboy mascots.

Comics for this week are done. Getting started on the sketches for Monday’s comic tonight. It was fan suggested and I think the premise was a good one. So you’ll just have to wait until Monday to see how it turns out.

The Miis: See No Evil

The final comic in the Miis series. Beginning in February I will be going back to the regular Monday and Wednesday schedule for new strips. I will miss how the archives grow a little quicker when doing three comics a week, but more time to relax is definitely out weighs that.

I need to give major credit to mooz. The flash Mii creator that he built saved me a lot of running back and forth between my Wii and computer while designing the strips. Thanks.

I’m looking forward to this weekend as I intend to indulge in some much gaming. So far my poisons of choice are Final Fantasy XII (right at the end of the game), Elebits and GTA: Liberty City Stories. Speaking of GTA did you see the news that Vice City Stories is coming out on the PS2. There’s a surprise.

Working on some new merchandise ideas. I’ll post it here as soon as I’ve got a clear direction on them.

The Miis: Game, Set, Match

Only one more Mii comic after this. On a related note, I’m sorry. But that John guy is one ugly dude. Seriously, if you look like that, you are just asking your wife to cheat on you.

Anyone in the Virginia/Washington DC area that isn’t doing anything on Saturday, I’m heading up to MarsCon in Williamsburg, VA. I’m not attending it a guest, just going to check it out for fun. So if you go and you see me there, say “hi!” Granted you guys don’t know what I look like, but I’ll be the 6’6″ nordic looking guy… I hope there aren’t too many of us. Also, Rich Burlew from Order of the Stick is scheduled to be there, too. Added bonus.

That’s about it. Hopefully I will have a little something extra to show you guys on Monday. I won’t tell you what it is, but I will tell you its a secret. Shhhh…

The Miis: Double Team

Another special off cycle comic starring those creepy Miis. We’re at the halfway point with these. Only two more left. Oh, in case some of you are wondering… the reason I don’t change the Miis facial expressions is because they don’t change on the Wii. Besides that it makes it more eerie.

I enjoyed the emails I received with suggestions for future What if…? comics. Just as a teaser, I’ll give you a hint of one of the upcoming strips in the series. Its going to be 8-bit Theater. Hopefully, my hint wasn’t too vague.

Lastly, I threw my hat into the ring for Blind Date II. Its a little mixer where they randomly take artists and writers from various webcomics and team them together to make a strip. I’m listed under both writers/artists so I’m not sure which one I’ll be doing. Regardless, it does sound fun.
