The brilliant minds behind Hello with Cheese [1] have put their brains on the table for a brand new zombie-inspired deck of playing cards called Póstumo [2].

If you’re not familiar with Hello with Cheese or the collaborative team behind it of Dern and O, then shame on you. But you still might be familiar with some of their previous successful Kickstarter projects like: Scury Dogs: Pirates and Privateers [3], The Monster Alphabet Board Book [4] or 3v3: The Commissioned Comic Card Game [5].

Póstumo is their latest successful Kickstarter project. I say successful, because as of the time writing this post the project is already 1,256% funded and it’s only 4 days in with 26 left to go.

So if the project is already 1,256% funded, why am I mentioning it here? Twofold. One, you gotta support your friends. And two, its simply a really cool friggin’ thing. I already pledged for my own deck and I’m contemplating upping my pledge to get some of the neat higher level stuff.

Nonetheless, I really think this is a project worth supporting. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t be doing it myself.

“The system works!”

First and foremost, I am a console gamer. I enjoy sitting in my living room, relaxing on the couch and playing games on my television. So when I learned about OUYA, I knew I wanted to own one.

What is OUYA, you say? OUYA (pronouced OOO-yah) is a brand new gaming console that will be powered by Android. Not exactly an Android port, but a system built on Android. So a lot of programmers who are already familiar with this platform will have no problem creating games for it. It will also be cheaper platform for game development as there will be no licensing fees, retail fees, or publishing fees associated with it. Sounds pretty good to me.

Now there is a Kickstarter project running for it until August 9th to get funding for it. As of writing this post, said project was already over 500% funded, so that’s definitely not an issue. For a pledge of $99 or higher, you can obtain one of these consoles around March next year when they are estimated to ship and that’s pretty much my main reason for mentioning it here.

While $99 for a brand new console is a very tempting offer, I also want to get as much support for this console from day one. My hope is that a lot of the type of games that I loved from yesteryear, that aren’t considered marketable anymore, can find a new place to live in my living room when overhead costs aren’t so high and that developers will be willing to take more chances on brand new titles for the same reason as well.

Am I certain that the OUYA will be a success? Nope. Do I think it’s worth taking a chance that it is? Most definitely. I’ve already pledged my $129 towards the system: that’s $99 for the system and an extra $30 for a second controller. I recommend you do that same.

Al Lowe, the creator of Leisure Suit Larry, and Replay Games, a company founded by Sierra On-Line veterans, have teamed up together to recreate the original Leisure Suit Larry a.k.a. Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards for a new generation of gamers.

Now recreating, or even creating, games costs money. But instead of going through a big name publisher, this aforementioned team have launched a Kickstarter project in order to obtain the necessary funding. The funding campaign is running for a month and there’s still 21 days left in the project, but it is already 52% funded. Not bad when you consider they are asking for $500,000 to complete.

So if you’re interested in helping to resurrect the Leisure Suit Larry franchise while disavowing those the two most recent games that Al Lowe had nothing to do with, I recommend helping this project out. After the huge success of fellow webcomic Hello with Cheese‘s most recent Kickstarter project [1] and the ongoing success of the Double Fine Adventure [2], I decided to share one of another project from a fellow webcomic friend of mine.

Rob Balder, the author of Erfworld [3], recently launched a brand new Kickstarter project called Erfworld Year of the Dwagon [4]. The project itself is two fold. The first part is to fund the the conversion of the first Erfworld book, illustrated by Jamie Noguchi [5], into motion animations using the original artwork along with the addition of voices and music. This part has already been funded. The second part is to create what I feel will be one of if not the most complex webcomic website that has ever existed [6]. This part has yet to be funded.

My love of animation is half of what compels me towards this project. The other part is just to see the new Erfworld site become a reality. It’s definitely going to be a massive undertaking and the web developer in me definitely wants to see it come to fruition. So if you’ve got some funds to spare, I highly recommend supporting this project.
