Hard to believe it’s been almost two years since the previous installment of “Games I am glad were never made…”. I’ve always had a lot of fun making these. Plus, imagining Blanka destroying a keyboard with brute force and lots of electricity makes me chuckle.

Expect a lot of classic themes to reemerge as I get back into the swing of regularly creating exclusive content for Dueling Analogs. It should be fun.

It’s been one month shy of a year since the last “Games I am glad were never made…”. I didn’t realize that it was that long. I’ve always enjoyed making these, but they are definitely coming less frequently than they used to. So are a lot of the other older gimmicks I used to run on the strip (ie: Rejected Mega Man Villains and What if…?). They were all fun and I live to bring them back occasionally, but that’s more for me and the long term loyalists.

Now one series I would love to go back to, if they didn’t take so friggin’ long to create each one, is the Rejected Mega Man X Mavericks. They’re fun… They just take friggin’ forever!

The other one that is currently not a series, but I fully intend on making it one is “How it really happened.” So far, I’ve only done How It Really Happened: Super Mario Bros. I’ve already got another three fleshed out and written, just need to make them. Maybe I will, one day soon.

I spent at least three hours scoured the internet trying to locate the name of the person who created the box art for the North American version of the original Mega Man for the NES. The best I could find was that the person was commissioned to create the box art either rushed it or waited until the last minute and conned someone else to create the artwork instead. Nonetheless, I really wish I knew who really created the box art for the game. I would have made the game title “Painting who So-and-So” instead of “Painting the Mega Man Way.” Oh, well… I can always change it down the road if someone can find out the truth. It is out there, after all.

Update: I’ve received a lot of emails from readers saying that the person who created the art for the original NES Mega Man box is Rodney Baddraw. Unfortunately, I highly doubt that Rodney Baddraw is the person’s name. First off, the name comes from a parody article on GameSpy and no where else. Second, Rodney’s last name is Baddraw… Bad Draw. Yeah…

While I appreciate the help, I really don’t believe that Rodney is our person.

Sorry for the delay in posting the comic. I got home from Otakon at 8pm last night and the last thing I wanted to do was put a comic after that. So I had to wait until I got home from work to put this strip together. And here it is.

So… I sold a lot of wares at Otakon this weekend. Most of which were the Rejected Mega Man Villains and the Games I’m Glad Were Never Made… posters. But the Games I’m Glad Were Never Made… poster was very popular at the convention. A lot more than I could have anticipated. So I thought, “Well, heck! I might as well get started on making some more of these for the next poster I said I would.” Needless to say after that, my gophers and I came up with 19 brand new “games.” So here’s the first batch of them gone from the next poster.

I just want to stress that these are not the remain three “games” that appeared on the original poster. Those three will stay on the poster and only on the poster… maybe the Dueling Analogs book one day, but never on the site. Also, here’s a link to all the previous Games I’m Glad Were Never Made… and postings pertaining to them.

Lastly, I will post the highlights of my trip to Otakon, on the site, later on today…
