
I always thought it would be an interesting idea if RPGs had a finite amount of each species. So as you catch or defeat creatures their value and scarcity changes accordingly.

YOU TOO! Wow, I thought I was alone in the world on that. I love the idea of having a finite number or creatures. Good lesson on over hunting.

This leads to the obvious action of catching enough to breed and slaughtering the rest. Somewhat immoral, no?

And should there not be a finite number? Over breading is always a problem. Next thing you will know, Bob Barker will be doing PSAs for Pokemon.

NetHack has something similar: kill 240 of the same kind of monster and it will become extinct, and you will never see another one.

I don’t remember exactly but I think I’ve seen one flash game like that. But it would definitely be an awesome concept.
