I have a friend whose used said parts to completely change his PS3 controller so it’s more usable than in it’s default state.

The Playstation controller did evolve! From PS1 to Dual Analog, to DualShock, to Sixaxis. Only thing is, each evolution follows a Nintendo innovation. Except for Gamecube, the dual sticks could be considered as from Dual Shock. Oh, well. It’s the best one, except for its uncomfortable C-stick.
