Real world dimensions and design, and video games don’t usually equate to fun. I remember watching a recent video about Ellen Page in Beyond: Two Souls, for completely professional reasons, and thinking that the width of hallways and corridors in that game are ridiculously wide. We’re talking 10 ft. to 12 ft. (3m to 3.65m) hallways. Problem is the average hallway in real life is between 36″ to 40″ (roughly a meter), but you know what? That’s okay.
Video games, besides racing and sports titles, are a lot less fun with real world dimensions. There’s no room to move around and if stuff was logically laid out, it would become too repetitious and boring. So I say, embrace the illogical escapism that video games have to offer, because reality is overrated.
