I think the anonymity of the internet brings out the worst in people. So I stopped using numbers and strange characters in my log-in & e-mail names. I felt the anonymity it gave me was bad for my short temper, as I could say or do anything without fear of showing my name in public.

Also it was always awkward when someone would ask for my e-mail and I had to say I didn't have one because I'd feel silly giving out an anime character e-mail name.

It hasn't helped my temper though, I'm still a bubbling cauldron of rage and hate percolating on the back burner. But it has helped me a little to watch and control what I say.

And I realized my real name is awesome if I swap my first and last names around.

I do like how Steam handles usernames, meaning that you can change it almost as often as you want. Where other networks, like xbox live, demand a fee to change it.

This is because it is the unique id used to identify your account, while Steam has a profile number and account name which are associated with the profile name.
