Yeah, gross subject matter IS his point. And that’s why I love him. That’s also why I was kind of upset when he became “The Guy Who Made Super Meat Boy” to the greater gaming public. Not that it isn’t a great game, I really like it. It’s just not a very good representation of McMillen’s style. And if you want to see his earlier work without spending money on it: Most games available in the “Basement Collection” can be played for free on Newgrounds (most of them in the “The Badlands”-Collection). I recommend Cereus Peashy, Clöubby the Seal and Carious Weltling. But they’re still gross.

That said, The Binding of Isaac was definitely his most ‘out there’ so far.
