Video Games are like… (Part 2)

by Steve Napierski to Comics

Judging by the nature of the comic what I am about to say is going to be a weird direction to take the post in, but I wanted to start by discussing something completely unrelated to the comic or gaming. On April 1, someone set fire to the Fun Forest playground at Chesapeake City Park that my daughters play at. It was a lot of fun for the girls and my wife and I really enjoyed taking them there. Well, you see, Sears is running a contest on www.MoreGreenAcrossAmerica.com where the winning park receives a $30,000 makeover. And $30,000 would go very far towards helping rebuild this place we love. All I’m asking you to do is go there and vote for “Fun Forest, Chesapeake, VA.” It’s free to vote, you can vote once everyday and it would mean a lot to me and my family if you did. I truly do appreciate it.

Next off, something relating to the comic is the Dueling Analogs Book 1 pledge drive. It’s still going on and I want to make sure that it keeps going strong. I also want to note that everyone who pledges at least $1 will receive access to behind-the-scenes blog posts about the book’s development. This includes pictures, samples of updates to the comics and I also be announcing the name of the actual book itself in said section next week. That alone should be worth the $1 admission fee. Help a brother out.

If you want to discuss the comic further in the comment section, please do. But those are really the only things I have on my mind right now. If I don’t hear from you below, I will see you guys on Monday…

  • David

    So what’s Mario like?

  • Mr. Will

Mario is like the kid in the friendzone. Always there for you, never getting laid.

  • nicktwolf

I hope your park wins and they catch the sob/s who did that.

  • David

I voted but it doesn’t look like you need my help. You guys are way ahead. Although I sort of feel like a jerk because I keep reading “Chesapeake” as “Cheapskate”.

  • http://scottthong.wordpress.com Scott

    Voted!

  • Niccolo

xD I kept reading Chesapeake as Cheesecake. I’m not entirely sure how.

  • Mort

i resent that Wii’s remark!! i never saw Passion of the Christ for two reasons:

    1. i hate biblical movies so i never saw it
    2. the church has pulled the ultimate spoilersport, by doing it for the last 2000 years

  • nicktwolf

I say we do one more for steve, if you have facebook or myspace put in the link and request for people to vote. And as soon as I move I will be putting in my order.

  • http://mozzilo.wordpress.com Chris Smedley

    @Niccolo
    Me too… me too…

  • bidoopoo

Oh…God, and Uncle “Jizzy” swore that the wiimote was sticky because…I..oh Jesus, think I’m gonna be sick.

    *BARF*

  • Gobold

Just a small note: Although it doesn’t really make sense, you don’t have to be from the US to be allowed to vote, so anyone can do. I just did.

    Greetings from Germany ;-)

  • Dk Ping

    Just voted too, good luck!

  • http://www.filforce.org Krdshrk

I voted too – Sweet – the park is way in the lead!

  • nicktwolf

I gotta say the first one is the one I like the most. I would love to see that as a tshirt.

  • Amanda

I just wanted to remind everyone that you can vote once a day. Thank you all for your help! We have to keep our lead until May 5th.

  • http://N/A Joel

Voted as well, and it certainly is one hell of a lead. XD; Think the second highest one’s only got about a third of the votes.

  • http://www.fnintendo.net/ BigLord

I wanted to make a joke “xxx are like…”, the same way you did in the comic above. But I can’t come up with anything. :(

Btw I was going to vote but… I guess you don’t need it :P

  • http://www.pierski.com Steve Napierski

@BligLord Assuming XXX means porn, you could say: “XXX is like rigor mortis: It always gets you hard, but depending on where you do it it can put you in an awkward position.”

  • Riaayo

15,000 votes for you so far. (: Looking good!

  • David

Amanda is right, I just voted again with the same details and it was fine with it. You should update the post so people know. If we don’t keep our votes up and the 3,000 for Harwood, MD do they could overtake us by the end date.

  • http://www.pierski.com Steve Napierski

    @David I updated it.

  • http://scottthong.wordpress.com Scott

Great job, probably mostly thanks to your readers, Fun Forest has 4 times the votes of the nearest runner up!

  • Gibraltor The Inhuman

    The rigor mortis joke rocks!

  • mazion

lol looks like you have no fears, Mr Steve Napierski, as your park has 18,000 votes to the next one which is 5,000. That won’t be overturned. Still voted for ya. I’ve been reading the comic for… 4 years? but never commented………

    Hi brother.

  • http://www.vidyavidya.de NaruZap

Glad to help out….y’know, for the children :’D They are the future. Or so I keep hearing.
Planning on getting that book pledge down soon, when I get my funds in order

  • http://www.140designs.com s1h4d0w

Looks like the park is going to win :)
It already had more than 3 times more votes than the number 2.

  • Amanda

Thank you to everyone who has voted, and please vote early and vote often…every day :)

  • cress

    Holy balls batman,

Fun Park has 20949 votes in fist place.

Second place? Southern High School, Harwood, MD 6146 Votes

I don’t know how much of Dueling Analogs had to do with it, but i’d say it was influential :)

  • nicktwolf

I had to find the wi joke funny since there is a wi blow ad on you tube. I kid you not

  • http://zaxcg2.blogspot.com ZaxCG2

Even if I disliked your comic this week… I’m going to vote for you as a fellow Southeast Virginian. :B

  • http://zaxcg2.blogspot.com ZaxCG2

Not like my vote matters… you guys are winning this for sure.

  • Kender

Voted. Good cause, and I’m fairly confident Sears will be choosing that park.

  • http://www.apokalypsos.com Sensei

Not that it necessarily matters, but i voted. Up to 27K+ votes now. There is no reasonable way for you to not win at this point. Not even proxy bot spam.

  • Krooked

Well after becoming a very loyal fan of DA (sadly can’t put any money towards the book :( ) had to vote and your park is totally gonna win dude.

  • Cassie Jane

    Fun Forest: 29292 votes.
    Nearest Rival: roughly 8000 votes
    Victory: practically assured.
People who burn down play areas: will be caught and crushed under the weight of the American legal system.

  • nicktwolf

I think they should light their playgrounds on fire when caught if you know what I mean.

  • redjarman

1st place: Fun Forest, 30599 votes
2nd place: Southern High School, 8452 votes

Yeah, I think Fun Forest will win.

  • BerlapSack

While voting for your park is a noble gesture (I did so myself), I feel somewhat guilty looking at the list of parks there. The veteran parks in particular. Each and every park there deserves to win. I kinda wish they could all get a facelift.

  • nicktwolf

what I don’t understand is a majority of parks are funded by the the community. So the big question is why are some of these communities not putting in money for rebuilding. If it is a city that has money issues that is one thing.
