Signing Up for Social Media [ COMIC ]

I am definitely not going to be the first person to tell you that the YouTube comment section was perfect. I simply cannot do that. I’m not insane. But that said, not too fond of being forced to use Google+ to comment on YouTube videos now. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I think Google made a very smart business decision by doing what they did. People overwhelming use YouTube. So this will bring a lot more people to Google+. I’m just not a fan about not having a choice about whether or not I actually use Google+ if I want to comment on YouTube. Needless to say I feel the following video sums up my opinion of the whole situation effectively.

Didn’t they stop doing that after the backlash? I can’t tell from my end since I’ve been using G+ since the beginning.

Also, shouldn’t the NSA be holding a gun behind Facebook? (and possibly Google? :P)

“Also, shouldn’t the NSA be holding a gun behind Facebook? (and possibly Google? :P )”

I was about to say something to that effect.

I think it’s the other way around. You sign up for youtube and are brute-forced into a google+ account whether you like it or not.

I believe the presentation of this comic could use some work. It seems to mean that if you want Youtube, Youtube will force you into Google+.

  • Triaxx2

So I’m the only one not bothered?

Plus, you don’t have to actually USE Google +, just sign up for it. I have an account and have never done anything with it. My page has nothing but my name. I don’t think I even put a picture on it. Pretty much the same as my Youtube account before the merge. And my Kongregate account. And my Steam account. I never use the “social media” aspects of these sites, just sign up for free so I can use the parts of them I want to use and ignore the rest.

I didn’t know you had to sign up to comment, though I very rarely leave comments…On youtube. I know it bothered me when I tried to give something a Thumb and all, but quickly considered that I really didn’t care enough to pass on my own anonymous opinion.
