I can’t say how many times I’ve opened my map/inventory only to notice that the monster I’d been hearing for the last minute,,, is at the bottom of the screen.,,,

Still happens in SMNC but you just get voice cues from the announcers, I don’t think there’s any bonus to it.

There’s an achievement in Monday Night Combat that is rewarded when you kill someone who is upgrading their skills through the menu. It’s called “Caught ‘em Nappin’”. And it’s hilariously evil!

In Quake Live it’s common etiquette to not attack chatting/in menu players. (There is an icon above them) Although not everyone follows this unspoken ‘rule’.
