Joy of Life

by Steve Napierski to Comics

There’s a lot of people in the world who will see no fault in this comic. Your parents did a job and when you grow up, you will do that job as well.

I’ve been very fortunate in life to be able to choose what type of career I have… Actually, I never really chose my career path. One day, I just realized that I had accumulated the knowledge and skills required to do that certain job and it became my career.

When I graduated from high school, there was no such thing as a UI/UX designer. The internet was in it’s infancy and CompuServe was the largest service provider (“What’s an AOL?”). I went to college for graphic design (dropped out), but on the side, after high school and during college, I was learning how to code for the web. I was too cheap to pay someone else to do it for me, so I had to learn. With that basis I began learned more languages that I could use to design websites. Wound up getting an entry level web developer position, based on my own site designs in my portfolio, and have been working in the IT industry ever since.

NOW my true passion is animation. Since I was three years old, and still, I’ve always wanted to create cartoons for a living. Don’t get me wrong, I love working on the web and I am very happy with the career choices I have made. But if I could have any job in the world, it would be to have my own company where I get to create animations. Let’s just say, Chris Prynoski is one of my idols.

If you could find the time, you should certainly pursue animation.
Maybe approach it as you did coding, work on it on the side and then one day when you get a chance move into it fullyl

You should totally tweak the site so that we receive notifications when someone replies to us. I don’t often go back and check old posts, so I feel like I’m drive-by commenting.
