I think a lot of us do the same thing, I don’t think that makes us whole mythological entities.
ye of little faith!
I never really got why some people save twice in a row to the same slot like that. Unless you have a memory that a goldfish would call short, why would you do that? Most games go out of their way to make sure you know that you actually saved, playing a little chime and taking at least half a second to write the data to disk. Is it that common to go to save and then not actually save? Because that has literally never happened to me in my roughly 30 years of gaming.
Some of us went through an era where saving constantly was imperative, no matter how small the amount of progress. An innate distrust of finicky computers or gaming consoles and a little willful ignorance of how robust modern autosaves are keep that instinct going.
That brings back bad memories. There’s nothing like hitting ‘save’ once, thinking it worked, and coming back later to realize that all that progress was lost. Saving twice was the only way to be sure. It’s like the Rule of Two: “One is none. Two is one. If it’s important, you need a backup.”
You’ve likely never had a dedicated gaming session that left you losing sleep. When you get to that state, it’s easy to forget or imagine that you’ve saved when you really haven’t. All it takes are one or two incidents of hour plus progress lost to start second-guessing yourself, and that paranoia sticks with you.
Jesus is a ginger?
I’m not sure how I feel about this.. XD
Is this comic about Pat from Super Best Friends?
Jesus holds his N64 controller the wrong way. Unless he’s playing a few very specific games.
