Glutton for Punishment [ COMIC ]

Been there, done that… Well, except for the breaking of the controller part. I’ve never intentionally broken a controller. I have worn out many an analog stick on N64 controllers, but never intentionally.

Playing Crash Bandicoot 2 these days, struggling with the level wear you first get chased by a huge polar bear and you then jump down to the secret level, a FREAKING hard level!!! And yet I keep playing

Reminds of the end of Psychonauts.

We keep playing because of the sensation that gets us when we finally beat the level/boss/whatever. Damn it feels good!

I have never broken a controller. I have broken other things with them. Everything else is about right though.

The broken controllers, does it still count if it breaks from being hurled across the room in a rage-filled swear-laden moment of weakness?

I didn’t start swearing out loud until I played the Hades level in the first God of War.

Huh, my 64’s sticks still work like a dream. Gamecube, have had one wobbly stick, and PS2, both 1st and 3rd party sticks are too damn fragile, and get wobbly real quick. one of the reasons I’ve actually held off on buying a PS3.
I’ll take the opinion of anyone with chewbacca hands, who eats walnuts bare-handed, for what brand makes durable controllers.

My original N64 controller’s stick kinda sucks for quick rotates, but it would probably be fine if I took it apart and cleaned the base of the stick, since I kept seeing crap come out of there after a long day of play. Not sure how anything got in that though. I do have chewbacca hands though, so as for a good brand…I can’t give you one. Almost all of the new controller sticks feel like they’re about to break in my hands. My 360’s sticks already have problems like my N64’s reading for rotates. Doesn’t seem like much until you hit a setup that calls for one, and then you’re screwed. PS2…well, honestly if the game allowed control pad operation for movement, I used it, and I’ve still broken two controllers from normal use.

I think the last game I played where I was like “Ugh, this is complete garbage” was Star Ocean 3.

I’m not complaining about the “twist” even-and I was playing the undub (shhhhh) so I’m not complaining about the voice acting. But the “HEY SPEND 50 HOURS RUNNING BACK AND FORTH” aspect of the game was just sooooooooooooo horrible.
