The one thing I’ll find interesting is that Avatar is now getting a bad rep. When it came out everyone was all “oohs” and “aahs” over the CG. Now, everyone mocks it (from talks about blue smurfs to it being the space version of Runs with Wolves I believe). Not that I necessarily disagree, as I found the story also lacking and since I’m not a 3D fan due to frequent headaches I didn’t think the CG was overwhelmingly good. Good, but not overwhelmingly. Anyway, my point is that it’s funny that Avatar was considered one of the best movies that year, good enough to be released twice in Imax, but now it’s just laughed at for the most part. Makes me concerned for Avengers, even though that one had a good story AND good CG.
Oh, and uh, about the comic, Creepers would own that planet -D
Not heard that. I haven’t seen fern gully in a while anyway, so maybe that’s why. Okay I will add it to my movie list. But yeah, essentially the point is that storyline wise it lacks originality

And Tim Curry campy singing. After listening to “Toxic Love” I feel like I need a hot shower and a priest to feel clean again.
Dude, people have been mocking Avatar since before it even came out. The Smurf/Ferngully/Dances with Wolves IN SPACE jokes were making the rounds the first week it hit theaters.
Avatar was a completely forgettable movie that I watched when it came out and never thought about it again. That movie wishes it was the space dances with wolves, Dances With Wolves had a compelling plot and engaging characters.
Avatar was too simple and too surface. Sure, the 3d stuff looked amazing and so did the world they created but you have to back that up with writing that makes us care about the beautiful things you are showing us and Avatar just did not do that.
I guarantee it won’t make anyone’s “best 100″ list.

It’s a lot more like the space version of Fern Gully, almost a perfect match up actually.

Best quote I ever saw for Avatar: It’s like sex for your eyes and ears and your brain is in the other room banging on the wall.

So…what do you call “unobtainium” if you actually manage to obtain some?

It immediately splits into two compounds. Sleephappium and Sheunsatisfiedium.

Because, in the future that’s the only metal women want for their engagement rings.
