I have heard (though I haven't verified) that the reason FireRed and LeafGreen were made was to get the second gen pokemon back into the mix. With the addition of the Sevii Islands, the second gen was opened up. Once you get them in FireRed/LeafGreen, then you can transfer.

That also makes a point about what can be changed; the game designers can add side quests, add third and fourth gen pokemon, and revamp the looks.

With that said, I skipped the G/S generation, so I'll be picking one of the copies up when it comes out.

The GS series Pokemon are few and far between. To get them you have to play crappy sub games, like Pokemon Colosseum, and even then I'm not sure you can really get them all.

Not being allowed to trade between Gameboy and GBA was a way of holding back the duplication methods that both games had, like Missingno, and prevent access to the now countless Mews and Celebii's.

Fact is, they NEED to remake them in order to get the Pokemon into the mix. I'll definitely be buying them.

Now gold and silver were probably the best of the Pokemon games, but know why?
They were good games with little wrong, obviously.
They remade red and green so you could run, cut without pausing, better graphics, etc..
But gold and silver can't really be improved upon. What could the remake include?

@The Borzoi It was too similar. I had that originally planned, but went with Blue and LeafGreen.
