Both say Allistair wants to help, but one is him actually asking while the other is him stating the fact; not to mention the fact is actually stating the fact that the person is dear to him as well.

Guess I really don’t see a “problem”; yeah it’s more “I’ll do the dishes for you” than “I’d take a bullet for you” if you get what I mean, but I dunno; I guess I’d rather be sure the person I love will help me with every day things since… well that’s what every day life is. That and I don’t want someone to be at my command; just someone to listen to me and do as I wish when it’s right, but also to not listen to my “commands” sometimes too. Cause I mean, I can make some pretty stupid decisions sometimes!

Anyways, that’s my take on over-analyzing things. Just my take on the joke (well, except for the part about fetching him an ale; Get your own dang ale Alistair!).
